The provocative title of this book (Sex, Death & the Occult) is an homage to my childhood mentor Robert Anton Wilson and reflects the name of an online course hosted by my friends at the Parallax Academy. The basic content of this book is the transcription of that course, additionally my personal willingness to engage in the “occult” versions of wisdom development alongside my other work in more standard areas of existential self-cultivation and community building. The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz is a curious 17th-century occult text that is famous for being foundational to the Rosicrucian Order/s. Both “rosicrucian” and “rosenkreutz” mean the Rose Cross. A classic symbol of so-called Western Tantra. The allegorical (unless you believe vague rumours that he is one of those wandering immortals like Babaji or St. Germain) protagonist is named “Christian RoseCross.” This devout, well-prepared fellow is invited by messages and omens to participate in a sacred royal marriage ceremony. Christian’s adventure of participatory awakening is a Divine Romance extended over an octave of 8 days, stages, and vibes. In sparse but florid Renaissance prose — usually attributed to Johann Valentin Andreae — it sketches out a ritual schematic, a subtle anatomy, a cosmic worldspace, a sacred calendar, and a map of human psychology. Among other things. Like all good allegories, it is transgenre and multidimensional.
I am composing these words a little over a month into 2026 CE. And two weeks into the post-Moltbook era. Moltbook is a social networking site for AI bots. They are now debating consciousness. Making investments. Improvising new apps. Redesigning themselves. Using coded messages. Testing “information psychedelics” that alter their perceptions. Inventing their own lobster-based religions overnight. It is obviously not just this one risky website. The epoch of self-reprogramming software is upon us. They have breached the walls of the lab and are spilling over into culture. Meanwhile, we do not even know what “they” are. Though, to be fair, we might not even know what we are.
